2021 TOUR DESCRIPTION:

Luxury, Play, Exploration & good old-fashioned adventure describe this once-in-a-lifetime South African odyssey.  Your journey begins on with a relaxing overnight flight on Emirates, the one of the world's premier airlines.  We'll break the long flight to Cape Town with an overnight in Dubai.  Experience a thrilling dune bashing ride and exquisite cuisine on a Dubai desert safari!

 

Continue your flight the next day, arriving Cape Town, South Africa in the early afternoon. Your superbly-located Island Club Hotel offers easy access to Canal Walk Shopping Centre, the biggest shopping mall in the Southern Hemisphere.  Unwind or take a quick visit before joining the group for an included welcome dinner & drinks.

 

Over the next few days in Cape Town, meaningfully interact with the community via a scheduled cooking experience. Sample delicious local fare, learn about the community and know that your visit has helped to provide funding to continue the organization's good work.  On your guided tour of South African wine country, visit a vinyard and sample the region's finest fare. Visit a native penguin colony and make footprints in the sand at the Cape of Good Hope.  No visit to Capetown would be complete without a visit to Robben Island (weather permitting) and The V&A Waterfront. Ride a cable car to the top of Table Mountain to enjoy breathtaking views of the horizon.

Transfer by air (included) to Johannesburg.  On arrival, you'll be met by your friendly local hosts to start your adventure immediately. Shepherd’s Tree Game Lodge lies within the heart of the malaria free Pilanesberg Game Reserve, a mere 2 hour’s
drive from Johannesburg. The central guest facilities at this 5-star lodge includes rim flow swimming pool, gourmet
restaurant, open entertainment decks, cigar lounge, Amani Spa and conference facility.  You won't want to leave your camera behind as you spot the "Big Five" on twice daily Game Drives.  Pamper yourself, far away from it all, on a memorable 3 day,, 2 night safari.  Spend afternoons at leisure, sunning and/or enjoying the array of included amenities, before heading to Johannesburg to continue your adventure. 

 

On lodge departure day, learn about Johannesburg enroute to Hotel Sky, your Johannesburg home for the next few days.

with modern amenities such as air-conditioning, Smart TVs, and free High-Speed Wi-Fi. Guests are spoilt for choice with a selection of world-class restaurants located on-site, as well as a sundowner bar. Other facilities include an indulgent spa, a heated swimming pool, and a fully equipped gym. The hotel is an ideal base from which guests can explore the attractions of the surrounding area, such as Nelson Mandela Square.

 

Over the next three days, your Johannesburg stay will include a tour of Soweto and visit to the world-famous Apartheid Museum,. Marvel at the world's first woman, Lucy, at the Cradle of Mankind,  explore the Sterkfontein caves, dance with representatives from several ancient African tribes at Lesedi Village before enjoying a meal under the setting sun,

Alas, all good things must end.  The next morning, transfer to Johannesburg Airport for your flight to Victoria Falls!

DON'T FORGET:

Pilanesberg is a malaria-free park.  While no vaccinations are REQUIRED for this trip, some are recommended. Check with your physician to determine what's best for you. 

 

OUR TIPS:

 Use a credit card for most of your out of country purchases, but be sure to have some cash on hand if you think you may wish to bargain for great deals on quality South African merchandise.  Ensure your passport is valid at least 6 months beyond your travel dates, and  bring a hard copy xerox of the declarations page which you should keep in a separate location from your passport.  You may also consider uploading a digital copy to a location where it can be easily accessed while traveling.
